The homeowners were having an issue with a crumbling foundation and dampness due to a dirt crawlspace. We repaired the foundation, added an entry door to the crawlspace and installed Cleanspace and Silverglo.
We arrived to 5" of water on the floor but when we left it was completely dry and with our work it will remain dry! We installed a SuperSump and 60' of FlowGuard. The combination of these two products ensures that any water that tries to get into the basement will be drained and pumped outside. To make sure the moisture in the air was under control as well, we also installed a SaniDry XP in an adjacent room.
For this project, you can see what the crawl space looked like before we came in to do the job, and what it looked like after. We installed SilverGlo, drainage matting under the CleanSpace liner and spray foam insulation. Transformations like this is why we, at Century Masonry and Waterproofing wake up every morning. We want to be able to change the way you think about your crawl space. No more dirty, wet, energy inefficient crawl spaces. You can see how we were able to turn this space into a perfectionists' dream crawl space.
After:
As you could see in the before pictures, we manipulated the wall as far back as we could (approximately 3 1/2"). Because of how violent a break this wall experienced, we had to excavate the foundation. We then opened the slab and installed a footing with rebar extending up the full height of the new wall. These areas were filled solid with concrete.
We also sprayed a waterproof membrane with a drainage matting and footing drain to reduce static pressure on the foundation before backfill.
Installing a new wall here was the best approach for this particular project. Needless to say, our homeowner is now comfortable utilizing this valuable area of the property.
Before:
We were called in to inspect a failing foundation.......
These pictures are quite a statement. This wall was an extreme example!
This project was a concern because of insects (cave crickets), water, humidity, mold, cold and unsightliness.
We addressed all of these issues. In the basement side of this building we installed a new SuperSump with an UltraSump and new discharge line. We also created an opening between the basement and crawl space to allow airflow for the SaniDry XP.
On the crawl space side, we had a new door installed, closed up the existing window and a couple of miscellaneous openings. It's hard to see but several joists required "sistering " due to moisture. We also installed 2 new lally columns with footings. All of this was the encapsulated with CleanSpace. The entire rim joist was spray foam insulated.
